Dhillon's Work Experience at CWA

Dhillon's Work Experience at CWA

I had the incredible opportunity to have my year 10 work experience placement here at CWA. During my 5 days here, I gained a lot of experience and developed so many new skills. I’ve always been interested in the marketing and creative industry so having this opportunity to work alongside the amazing team here at CWA was incredible. I walked into the building on Monday morning not knowing what to expect from the week ahead but I’m leaving CWA with so much knowledge and experience of the business and how a marketing agency operates along with the different parts of an agency.

I started the week with an introduction and onboarding with Sofia & Leigh, who both spent time tailoring the week to me and my interests, which I appreciated. They both went through the extensive, 60-year history of the company and how its evolved over time.  I was introduced to my project which consisted of designing my own rollercoaster. I had a meeting with one of the Account Directors, Katy Dillon who gave me an insight on how to create a marketing plan and the type of questions an account manager would ask their clients. After my meeting with Katy, I was able to meet with the Head of Film and Animation of CWA, Dave Clancy, where he talked me through social media videos and short reels, which gave me a lot of information about videomaking and content creation.

Wednesday was very insightful and interesting, I had a meeting with Mariam Malik, who spoke to me about writing blog posts and further helped with social media content. I was also able to spend time with one of the designers, Nick Gilkes on creating the rollercoaster with AI technology and bringing my visons to life, I first created a mind-map of my ideas, and how I wanted my rollercoaster to look, this allowed me to gather my ideas together and decide what type of prompts to use in the AI software to get the best out of it.

My week at CWA has been very insightful and enjoyable. The team here are incredible and a joy to work alongside with, especially Sofia and Leigh who went above and beyond to ensure I had a pleasant time at CWA and really tried to make my week a worthwhile experience. Overall, I’ve really enjoyed my time here and will forever be grateful for the opportunity to meet everyone and gain experience with CWA.
