CWA’s favourite Christmas movies
For the past three weeks, our team have shared their thoughts on everything Christmas.
As it’s the final week of December, we thought we would finish with the biggest debate of them all… the best festive film…
Sit back and have a read of some of the team’s choices below. That middle period after Boxing Day is made for watching some of these classics… get on it!

The Muppet Christmas Carol
The best version of the Charles Dickens classic around! Very faithful to the original story, Michael Caine is fantastic as Scrooge, and the Muppets cast help to make what is a rather dark story much more friendly and enjoyable.

The Snowman and the Snowdog
It’s got everything the original Snowman had – the magical animation, the bittersweet storyline – but a stronger heartstrings tug with the addition of the Snowdog. Plus, a brilliant soundtrack by Andy Burrows.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
I love watching this movie on Christmas Eve, and would absolutely love to have my own Narnian lamppost installed in the garden!

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Clark Griswald’s vision for his perfect family Christmas gradually spirals into a festive car-crash.

It’s a Wonderful Life
It has everything. Cheer, drama, exquisite storytelling with a lovely ending. Rarely a year goes by that I don’t watch this over the Christmas break.

It’s such a lovely, feel good movie.

Depending on my mood, different aspects of it upsets me!

Hugh Grant and Colin Firth together again. Immense.
