First Hull Trains wanted to improve the safety of its passengers on its trains. They wanted to communicate how to be safer on board, from standing clear of closing doors, to avoiding accidents with hot drinks.
We recognised that the correct tone was required to successfully engage passengers on board. We wanted to have a conversation with passengers, rather than preaching at them. So, we developed “Detective Handswell” – a friendly character who appears in on-board notices, advising passengers to stay safe.
